When that I was a little tiny boy
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
A foolish thing was but a toy,
For the rain it raineth every day.
But when I came to man's estate
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
' Gainst knave and thief men shut their gate,
For the rain it raineth every day.
But when I came, alas! to wive,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
By swaggering could I never strive,
For the rain it raineth every day.
But when I came unto my bed,
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
With toss-pots still had drunken head,
For the rain it raineth every day.
A great while ago the world began
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,
But that's all one, our play is done ,
And we' ll strive to please you every d ay .

O, mistress mine, where are you roaming?
O stay and hear, your true love's coming
That can sing both high and low .
Trip no further, pretty sweeting,
Journeys end in lovers' meeting
Every wise man's son doth know.
What is love? ' tis not hereafter,
Present mirth has present laughter
What's to come is still unsure.
In delay there lies no plenty,
Then come kiss me sweet and twenty
Youth's a stuff will not endure.
